Accommodations

Transportation & Parking

Parking

Parking garages in downtown DC hotels are very expensive, usually between $40-$60 per day and typically valet is required.  Private garages are available, but rates and times vary.  Highly suggest avoiding bringing a car into the city, and definitely avoid leaving a car on the street overnight due to many zone restrictions.  Most fare zones have parking kiosks, but the Park Mobile app is the best way to pay for daytime street parking. https://parkmobile.io/

DC Metro (Subway)

This is by far the best method to get around the city.  Paying for fairs is now very easy and can be completed by tapping a credit card at fare gates.  https://www.wmata.com/rider-guide/new-riders/

Uber/ Lyft/ Taxi

Ride shares are very common for Uber and Lyft, however they have significantly increased (doubled) in recent years.  Suggest using public transportation (Metro) when able.  Taxis are no longer widely used in the district, except from the airports and Union Station.

Amtrak Train

Riding Amtrak to Washington Union Station is a very good option to travel to DC from the north east.  It also directly connects to the red line metro rail and drops off directly at the venue.  https://www.amtrak.com

Flights

Washington Regan (DCA) is directly in the city and by far the most convenient airport option, especially for American Airlines.  Washington Dulles International (IAD) is approximately 30 miles west of the city (75 minute metro/ 35-90 minute drive), and is most convenient for United Airlines.  Baltimore Washington International (BWI) is 35 miles north east of the city (90 minute Amtrak, 45-90 minute drive, No Metro), and is most convenient for South West Airlines.

Rental Cars

Highly suggest NOT getting a rental car and instead using public transportation (metro).  Driving and parking in the city is difficult, especially in the summer.  Metro is very convenient to the venue and most suggested hotels and tourist attractions.
